Dear SPIRO ATHANAS,
Hello, my name is Joseph Lewis, and I read the story called " A Bag of Oranges". I thought the story was okay. It gave a good on how your parents embarrass you and you still love them. It also shows the sorrow you go through when you lose them. All in All, it was a very interesting story.
I had a very similar moment minus my dad getting hit by a car. There was a time when I as out in public and someone made my dad mad. He yelled and cursed out the dude in the store. I didn't want people to know that was my dad. But later, I didn't care because that was mt dad. No one would and could change that.
The theme of this story is learning to appreciate what you have. Because, when you lose it you'll never forgive yourself. I got that from when he decide to go after the orange when the guy walks off with it. That shows he remembers his father and appreciates what he did in the bus. That shows he is "coming of age", that he is growing up.

"THE JACKET"
May 9, 2012
Dear Gary Soto,
Hi, my name is Joseph Lewis, and I read the story the "Jacket". I believe the story was a good explain of a "coming of age" story. It also shows why you should appreciate the little things. I also feel that he was overacting about the jacket. Other then that there nothing else I know or feel about the story.
I've had a similar experience to the character in the story. There was a time during winter when I had to wear a giant winter coat. But, I was happy when I was warm and everyone else was cold. Even though I was embarrassed I put it on no matter what someone said. In the end, I learned to appreciate the coat, and don't worry about what people say.
All in All, I believe the deeper meaning was to be greatful of the little things . I got that from the part "I slipped it on and went out to the backyard, smiling a "thank you" to my mom". That shows that ever though he wanted the jacket, he appreciated the fact he got one. That also shows that he grew not just on the outside but on the inside too. He found out he has it better then what he thinks.
Sincerely,
Joseph Lewis

"MARIGOLDS"
MAY 2, 2012
Dear EUGENIA COLLIER,
My reaction to the story was kind of a surprise. In the end, I thought she was going to apologize to the old lady for what happened earlier that day. But, she actually just finished the job of destroying the marigolds. But during this she was changing from her childish ways to a full-fledged woman. This reminds me of a time during the summer, my friend was messing with one of my neighbors. He kept kicking up rocks onto the man's house. Until the rocks had break the machines and windows in his basement. the next day, we were different, we had given up on childish things like pranks. like from the story "That violent, crazy act was the last act of childhood. Did we really see a change to adulthood?

PAY THE PRICE OR LEAVE
For one, these infractions in noble street schools can really help students. They teach kids discipline skills that will help them later in life. This also keeps down there fighting rate to once per year. Also, because of this there schools test scores are better. Also, by getting rid of the bad kids who can't pay the fines.
On the other hand, this is also hurting kids and parents. For one, families that are poor or don't have lots of money can't pay it.So when they can't pay the fines they have to leave the schools. In the end, CPS schools like Corliss have to get these bad kids. Also, these infractions make it feel like there in jail and have no control.
All in All, I don't believe in the infractions the noble street charter schools are using.I feel there uncalled for and unneeded. Its taking money from cash troubled families and forcing bad kids into other schools. There not teaching kids anything just getting rid of the problems. So they should stop the infractions for good, it would make are word better.

WHY HATE VIDEO GAMES
Do you ever get told by your parents that you play to many video games? Parents are starting to say video games rot your brain.but, kids should be able to play video games. there's nothing wrong with them, your learning when playing games, and the whole family can play along.
For one thing, there's nothing wrong with video games. there a good way to consume time when you have nothing to do. that's why you see less kids getting in trouble. That's why there are less kids on the streets. they are to busy playing games to be thinking about gangs or messing with other people. Or they have a very short intention span.for the most part video games are really helping us.
Another great thing about video games is that you can learn from them. A good example would be the number games they make for kids. it makes learning about your 1,2,3's more fun. Also they pay attenion much longer than in school. Only because there not reading out a book or writing all day on paper. Not saying get rid of school, just saying put video games in the process.
At last, there fuunfor the whole family. use them in a family get together, or family game night. there are games for all ages like super mario gaxaly, or saints row the thrid. even us them to find out what your likes. you can see the many uses of video games.
Look, all im trying to say is that video games are great. everyone can play them even your dog, and im forreal. also parents you say we play to many games, but you be right by are sides playing them. In some issues you play more then us. so go play your video and enjoy them, or I well come and take your games.bye.

madden game victory
the new york Giants and the new England patriots are playing in the super bowl. in the Red Eye newspaper someone made a madden NFL 12 simulation showing the gaints beating the patriots. personally my money is on the gaints winning the super bowl.
on other news madden 12 is probaly one of the best football games they made so far. I have not played it ,but heard about it from friends. If you have something to say about the game leave a comment. I don't tkae negative comments about games to let you know. to me all games have something good about them.
In final words, watch the super bowl and buy madden NFL 12 from any of your local gaming store. or get it from your cousion that you had no idea about. which ever one is easier for you. also tune in next week or time for the legend of zelda.

Naruto is a really great show to watch when your bored. the games are awesome to play because of the long story plot. but sometimes there are things I don't understand about the show no matter how many times I watch it. for one they walk on water like there all god. when their doing hand signs, those are really gang signs. Half of the people in the show look like girls.
but, other than that its a really great show. I don't like Sasuke (Naruto's best friend) and Sakura beats Naurto for no reason at all.( his other teammate that he likes.) throughout most of the show the Naruto gets his butt kick in every battle. yet he has thestrongest attacks in the show, plus the coolest too. other then that its a real great show and it has a big character selection. read my blog next week to and see the legend of Zelda.
